Childhood Dementia Initiative - creating an impact framework for a new Australian charity seeking better ways to research and treat childhood dementia.

Childhood Dementia Initiative (CDI) is a not-for-profit organisation focusing on raising awareness of childhood dementia and driving research that is high impact and relevant to find effective treatments and cures.

We offers our services to Childhood Dementia Initiative at a reduced rate, charging a fee reflective of the Centre’s commitment to helping small not-for-profit organisations achieve their goals and do great work.

Impact Measurement

Maria & Michel with painted faces on FACE it day - raising awareness for childhood dementia

Background:

in 2021, we worked with CDI’s small team of four people to design a theory of change and impact framework as a blueprint for change.

Already experienced leaders in the advocacy space, CDI wanted to measure their wins, gains, and identify areas for improvement.

This included articulating, measuring and evaluating their impact to ensure the organisation was well placed moving forward.

The outcome:

We facilitated several planning sessions and designed an impact framework using insights from these sessions and the organisation’s Strategic Plan.

The framework was designed to measure what the organisation values, including:

  • sustaining and growing funding

  • making better decisions

  • developing partnerships for big societal impact; and

  • improving the lives of children with childhood dementia and their families.

Current work:

In March 2023, we returned to work with the ever-growing team at CDI to explore their short term impact, and update and refine their framework & data collection tools.
