Twenty10 - co-designing Ways of Working, a Theory of Change & Outcomes Framework.
Twenty10 is run by LGBTIQA+ people for LGBTIQA+ young people.
The organisation exists to provide free, accessible support services and access to gender affirming health care for LGBTIQA+ young people in NSW.
Twenty10 sought support to co-develop their Ways of Working and their first Theory of Change & Outcomes Framework.
The service offering:
Strategy & Design
Background:
Twenty10 incl. GLCS began over 40 years ago when a group of passionate community volunteers created a housing refuge in response to the increased homelessness of young LGBTIQA+ young people in and around Sydney.
They are NSW’s community led peer support service for people of diverse genders, sexualities and intersex variations (LGBTIQA+).
They support people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or gender diverse, intersex, queer, asexual or those who are questioning their identity.
They focus on young people, their families, and communities.
Twenty10 approached us seeking support to develop a practice framework that brings to life the principles which guide the youth work that they do. It would also serve as the foundational work for the development of the Twenty10 impact strategy, including an organisational theory of change & Outcomes Framework.
The outcome:
We used a participatory co-design approach bringing together the voice of service users, staff and leadership team.
Maria facilitated a series of face-to-face and online workshops to explore and better understand:
what great service user work look likes
why Twenty10 exists, and how its work aligns with its values
Twenty10 overarching impact statement
its activities, & the anticipated short, medium and long term outcomes.
Scoping, brainstorming and testing sessions were held to share, and to show and test ideas.
A robust approach to measuring impact, one that is centred on Twenty10’s service user, its peer workers and its volunteers.
The Ways of Working serve to help:
staff and service users know what to expect,
plan projects, events & committees
provide reflection to know what to do better.
Twenty10’s Theory of Change & Outcomes Framework outlines how they contribute to change within a complex system. They focus on understanding the outcomes of Twenty10’s work with LGBTQIA+ young people, those aged 12-25 years living in NSW.
Project completed in December 2023.
